OUR SERVICES

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral therapy addresses the core of our being – our central nervous system - a place where tension, holding patterns, and old traumas are often housed. This therapy is gentle and slow in nature though it works to address the deepest tissues of the body.

Following the Deep Rhythms of the Body

The craniosacral system is made up of the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium (skull), spine, and sacrum. During a session, I attune to the subtle rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid and note how other structures within the body respond to this gentle wave of movement.

Listening Hands

As your practitioner, I am here to support you and honor the natural pace of your body’ s unwinding, which will be unique for everyone. My aim is to remain present and curious. Through gentle adjustments, we can begin to offer ease within the subtle movements of the craniosacral system and the body as a whole.

What Will You Feel?

The craniosacral system is very responsive to gentle, sustained contact, and releases can occur throughout a session. Some clients feel lots of sensation, while others feel more subtle shifts. How ever your body experiences the work is valid and important. Through subtle work, we can begin to deepen out internal felt sense and feel more connection to our body.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Myofascial release integrates beautifully with the core work of craniosacral therapy to help map and release the pathways of tension within our body and bring focus to the dynamic relationship of our connective tissues.

What is Fascia?

Our fascia is a network of connective tissues found throughout the body, covering every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ providing structure and communicating much of our internal felt sense. Fascia is composed mostly of the protein collagen which provides strength and flexibility.

Soothing the Tissues and Creating Ease

Through slow and soothing manipulation of your bodies tissues, we can create more ease of movement for muscles to glide across one another by gently breaking adhesions in the fascia. Many clients report feeling ease with movement and more space within their body.

The Body as Water

I work with broad contact, slowly sinking into the tissues. Throughout the treatment, I envision the layers of your muscles and the direction of their fibers. Your body will begin to slowly shift my hands, at times lengthening and other times shortening. I follow the pathways of tension and release, hydrating your tissues, like the movement of water across the earth.

RELAXATION MASSAGE

As a licensed massage therapist, I am trained in Swedish and deep tissue massage.  I bring the philosophies of deep tissue massage into my practice, however, my work is gentle in nature, offering an alternative to the pain and pressure that can be associated with deep tissue techniques.  I envision the layers of your muscles and their relationship to each other and the surrounding structures. I use long, soothing massage strokes to help incorporate our craniosacral and myofascial work.

Benefits

The nature of this work is gentle and nourishing, with your body guiding the pace of the treatment.  The benefits of these combined methods can be profound: feeling connected to your body, a deep reset within your nervous system, freedom from new or persistent pain, ease with movement, and a deep calm within the mental, emotional, and physical landscape of your life.

Is This Work Right for You?

My work is for all bodies! Much of my work is based in regulating the nervous system and the benefits can be broad. I work with clients who experience anxiety, depression, difficulties with concentration, folks with chronic and acute pain, headaches and head injuries, and beyond. The benefits of my treatments can be felt session to session, but I’ve seen the best results with regular, monthly care.

My Philosophy as a Practitioner

As your practitioner, I am always interested in you – your lived experience within your body and what is important to you about your health and care.  I tailor and customize each session to meet your needs.  Bodywork is offered in 60 minute sessions, with 15-30 minutes of additional time for consultation.
